Claude's Compliance API now returns full session transcripts for Claude Code (CLI and desktop) and Cowork (web, mobile, desktop) — one endpoint, same access key, no new integration.
Announced August 11, the extension is in beta for Claude Enterprise customers. Security and compliance teams already using the Compliance API for regular Claude chat get Claude Code and Cowork coverage automatically — no separate access key, no changes to existing integrations.
What each session record includes:
- Full prompt and response text
- Tool call content: web browsing, MCP connector calls, skill runs, artifacts
- Metadata: verified user ID, organization ID, session and per-message IDs, timestamps
Current beta scope: Claude Code CLI and desktop app; Cowork desktop, web, and mobile. Not yet covered: Claude Code on the web, API-accessed Claude Code, or sessions on Bedrock, Vertex AI, or Foundry.
Why it matters: For HIPAA, FedRAMP, and SOC 2 teams, full audit trail coverage of agentic coding sessions closes the last gap between "we use Claude Code" and "we can prove what Claude Code did." This is the feature that unlocks Claude Code for regulated-industry engineering teams without a custom ATO process.
