Claude for Government Desktop is in public beta today — FedRAMP High authorized, with Claude Code and Cowork available to federal agencies and a $1/agency unlimited-seat price through August.

Anthropic launched the public beta of Claude for Government Desktop today. It brings FedRAMP High authorization, Claude Code for software modernization, and Claude Cowork for document-heavy agency workflows (memo drafting, RFP reviews, casework). Admins get spend controls per department and tamper-evident audit logs that support the agency ATO process. A limited-time offer sets the price at $1 per agency with unlimited seats through August 2026.

Why it matters: Engineers at govtech firms and federal contractors can now use Claude Code in FedRAMP High environments without a custom authorization-to-operate process — the compliance lift just got much shorter.
